Kuya Daniel: A True Friend and Big Brother to All

Kuya.

It is a title that resounds. A title that befits him for his kindness and generosity.

Mr. Public Service: a friend, and brother.

Is he not but one man?

Reflecting upon his numerous achievements and noble works in broadcasting and numerous others in public service, one can say that such feats are but impossible to achieve by a single person.

But Kuya Daniel Razon has done through God’s help these amazing works, showing once again what pure motive to serve God can do – exceeding the ordinary, even the wildest expectations anyone can set.

(Photo from Daniel Razon Official Facebook Page)

In the thirty-three years that he had committed to serve God and his fellowmen, Kuya Daniel Razon has alit a candle, the light of which brought forth causes that benefit many people.

What would modern journalism be like without UNTV News And Rescue, which tweaked mainstream practice focused on being first? This news-and-rescue advocacy prioritizes saving lives of others at the expense of breaking news first.

Or where would some thousand deserving yet poor students be now without the chance to get enrolled at  La Verdad Christian College? The tuition-free education program is one of the country’s first that have yielded thousands of graduates and now socially-useful citizens of the country.

Moreover, many of residents from various urban barangays and provincial areas are satisfied beneficiaries of his People’s Day Medical Mission outreaches, not the least those who avail the free services of Clinic Ni Kuya, Legal Center ni Kuya and Botika ni Kuya, among others.

As a nurse, the works of this man we call simply as Kuya Daniel is truly an inspiration. Like the thousands of lives changed through his works, inspirational speeches and sermons before the congregants of the Members Church of God International (MCGI), my life’s been changed and improved each day by big brother.

What encouraged me to pursue nursing as a professional career was the beauty of its nobility: spending a very fulfilling life serving others. Thankfully to God, I had been given the chance to become a volunteer staff of Clinic ni Kuya (CNK) Medical Mission in Cavite.

This opportunity gave me a grasp of Kuya Daniel’s genuine commitment to a lifelong advocacy. As a weekly regular volunteer with Clinic ni Kuya, we catered to hundreds of patients every week for free, including medication and follow-ups.

Many look up to him, and many should.

(Photo from Daniel Razon Official Facebook Page)

In line with advocacies that are truly patriotic, committed to nation-building and life changing, my admiration of Kuya Daniel’s bold ambition has given me a rich well of inspiration to do good despite the odds – because as Kuya Daniel always utter: doing good will reap no evil in due time.

Many look up to him, and many should.

So I take this opportunity to tell my fellow youth, let us walk in his example.

Of course, it cannot be expected of many of us to institute Transient Homes like the one Kuya Daniel Razon has helped put up in  Quezon City, which is the first of its kind in the Philippines, nor put up an all-expense-paid school like the La Verdad Christian College.

But what can be expected of us is to devote our works to things that are not futile – to things that are of greater cause.

Mr. Public Service Kuya Daniel Razon has a name that is not simply words. He is an elder brother, a teacher, a father, and even a friend to those in need.

For a man of true valor – kind and God-fearing, we are thankful forever to God. Happy 33 Years of Service to God and Humanity, Kuya Daniel Razon!

To God be the Glory!

Filipino Band Dazzles in Brazil, Earns Rave from Popular Brazilian Band Vocalist

A Filipino band is creating online buzz as videos spread of their live performances at a frequented Filipino-Brazilian restaurant in Florianopolis, Brazil.

Milan (not the Italian city you are thinking of) is a rock band that has had four record labels in the Philippines. The band moved to Brazil in early 2016 and now regularly performs at Salut, a restaurant that serves Filipino and Brazilian cuisine.

Aside from the food that keep locals coming back, the band’s unique music covers and the energetic interpretation of its frontman, Hammilan “Milan” Pavoreal magnets especially music-loving customers. His out-of-the-box and almost spontaneous acts not only attracted and impressed ordinary customers, but even artists like Zeca Petry, lead vocal of Expresso, a famous Brazilian rock band of the 80’s.

Petry uploaded videos of Milan’s performances on Facebook. In one of the videos, he described how captivated he and the rest of the audience were, saying “I confess that I’ve never seen anything like this in restaurants in the city, and [it] deserves to be seen.” (See Zeca Petry’s upload here.)

The videos are fast spreading on Facebook. This one below had over 15,000 views.

Speaking as a Filipino myself, it gives me pride and joy to hear about fellow Filipinos being admired in the international and/or online community. Artists like Milan, prove to me that the Filipino has become a brand of talent across the globe, producing generations of music icons like rapper Apl D’Ap and Journey’s new lead vocalist Arnel Pineda.

In the video below, also uploaded by Zeca Petry, I can see why people are just blown away by the energy of their live performance.

I believe Filipinos make it big because Filipinos are something else. More power, Milan!

In The Eyes of A Child: Kuya Daniel’s November for the Children

Mr. Public Service Kuya Daniel Razon commemorates his 32nd year of service to God and humanity by celebrating children. This November, following the World Children’s Day last Friday the 21st, a charity concert benefiting children was held at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

The UNTV Life Channel announced many notable celebrities to be there, and the concert raised hundreds of thousands in donation. Beneficiaries include: Kanlungan Sa Er-Ma Ministry, Inc, Cancer Warrior Foundation, Inocencio Magtoto Memorial Foundation, Inc, Persons With Disabilities Federation Of San Mateo Rizal, Handicapped Center Lourdes, Inc, Rizal High School, Manila Boystown Complex, Baby Sybyl Shynn Mabulay, Norfil Foundation, and the Families And Children For Empowerment and Development (FCED) Foundation Inc.

Razon has long been an advocate for children’s welfare. As CEO of UNTV-BMPI, he saw to it that their programs would be child-friendly and cater to the needs of growing children. It does not surprise me that such a man would be recognized by AnakTV, the Philippine Advocacy for Child-sensitive, Family-Friendly Television, as Makabata Awardee together with his wife Arlene Razon.

The “In The Eyes Of A Child” Benefit Concert is just one in many that proves how Mr. Public Service lives up to his name. For more on this, see the following:

The Televangelist Who Reads

In times past, humans sometimes called magic and/or miracles the things and occurrences they could not explain. As decades went by, there slowly became a system of ‘discovering’ and ‘naming’ of such things and occurrences that were later known as systems and processes; and men called it “Science.”

As more things are being explained by the Science of men, more ideas emerge – sometimes dangerous and self-serving ideas – they consider as theories. As some theories become proven to be facts, some theories are simply made fact because of a majority of agreement. And that’s just how it is. Some traditions change. And as it happens, even the perception of human history is theorized against what could be called tradition, and apologists and atheists arise, refuting that God exists.

But some traditions don’t change. And despite all odds, the facts are clearer than day; And I don’t believe there is no God. For unlike what Kurt Eichenwald claims, I believe in the Televangelist who reads.

Atheistic Conspiracy Theories
In December 2014, Newsweek came out with an article “The Bible: So Misunderstood It’s a Sin” by Kurt Eichenwald. In this article, the self-proclaimed atheist author wrote, “No television preacher has ever read the Bible.”

He claims further that the Bible of today is inauthentic, and that words and ideas have been changed and adulterated through the times. Eichanwald mentioned many known preachers including 700 Club’s Pat Robertson and Governor Rick Perry, and some practice of various religions that are practically just for show.

Let me cut to the chase. As Eichenwald had written, “There were no vacuum-sealed technologies to preserve paper for centuries. Dried clay broke, papyrus and parchment crumbled away, primitive inks faded.” Therefore, what more proof do people need in order to establish the authenticity of something as old as the Bible?

They say, if you judge a fish for its ability to climb a tree, you may convince that fish that he is stupid for the rest of his life. I’m not saying that something inanimate such as a book, if it were to listen to an atheist tell it that it’s made up, would believe it. That’s not the point. I’m saying that people shouldn’t be convinced that the Bible is no longer authentic due to the lack of present-day objective evidence.

God can’t be comprehended by the punitive science that man has thus far discovered, so inevitably, atheists would want to conform to human standards of explanation of His existence–which is not enough!

So they go about their pointless mission, exclaiming that all must not believe in God, looking for evidences but biased by their stronghold belief, or unbelief rather. Such is how Eichenwald has made his long elaborated article on why people should not believe the Bible, when in fact, he himself claims that he has not read the Bible.

Because if Eichenwald had researched thoroughly, he would have known of the man given the title of “The Most Sensible Preacher of Our Time.”

What is there to refute that Brother Eli Soriano has read and, in fact, continues to read the Bible? I daresay. For those who do not know Soriano or have only heard false word about him, I dare you to seek for in all corners of media, for with the help of modern technology, he is even preaching through the internet.

Brother Eli on The Old Path Channel

Biblical Explanation to Creation

There is a particular part in Eichenwald’s article wherein he discusses “alleged inconsistencies” in biblical Creation. He claims, without full understanding (because, as he has claimed in writing, he has not read the Bible), and I quote, “Few of the Christian faithful seem to know the Bible contains multiple creation stories.”

Again, I am quite appalled. I have much to say, but nothing I say would compare to the answers Brother Eli has the blog posted, “Creation: The Most Misunderstood Portion of Genesis.

The article points out and corrects various misinterpretations regarding biblical creation by going straight to the core of the issues – discussing as necessary even regarding the origin of certain translated words in the Bible. That said, there are mysteries in the Bible, but not everything is a mystery.

“To qualify, not everything in the Bible is considered a mystery. The Bible contains information worded in simple words understandable even by the most illiterate of humans. Honor and obey a father and a mother can be understood even by a child.”

– “Creation: The Most Misunderstood Portion of Genesis

In his blog, “Big Bang Theory and Creation: What to Believe In,” he wrote:

Before man has even discovered the Law of Gravity, the Bible tells us in advance that it was hung by God upon nothing.

JOB 26:7
He stretcheth out the north over the empty place, and hangeth the earth upon nothing.

We know that it is the force of gravity that holds the earth and other planets and heavenly bodies in their place in space.

For atheists, to believe in science is to reject the Bible because for them it is fiction and unscientific! But I say that, in believing the Bible you will learn true science.

Atheists say that the universe started with a Big Bang and is ever expanding. God said in the Bible that He created the universe with exact measurements and weight!

But there are always things that man could never find out.

Human sciences are wanting, wanting as ever. That is because God has reserved some knowledge of his work for him alone.

ECCLESIASTES 8:17
Then I beheld all the work of God, that a man cannot find out the work that is done under the sun: because though a man labor to seek it out, yet he shall not find it; yea further; though a wise man think to know it, yet shall he not be able to find it.

As defined in the dictionary, human science is the study and interpretation of the experiences, activities, constructs, and artifacts associated with human beings. Normally used with the Letter “s,” the human sciences correspond to humanities and social sciences, but also include aspects of psychology and even mathematics.

Discussions by Michael Dunn in The Human Sciences (2013), theoryofknowedge.net said many people do not consider human sciences as true science because they rely on empirical observation to arrive at findings. In contrast, the natural sciences, which are much ‘stricter’ in their use of observation, are backed up by rational theorizing. Still they are just theories. And yet man resorts to either in trying to understand the universe.

Therefore, human sciences as well as natural sciences endeavoring at their best, lack explanation in so many things that actually happen and exist. In faith and in the Bible such unexplained thing is called mystery. This progress report, for example, by Adam Hadhazy published in Popular Mechanics is about unsolved mysteries of science.

Not Just A Reader but a Heeder

For the likes of people who oppose biblical truths for the ideals of men, you can listen to his preaching in the program The Old Path in popular segments such as “Bible Expositions” and “Itanong Mo Kay Soriano: Biblia ang Sasagot (Ask Soriano: The Bible Will Answer),” for he is the Televangelist who reads!

“My dream is to find friends; the lost souls; to meet the less fortunate; the hungry; the underfed; the forgotten; and all those rejected by human society: to share with them the hope that is in me; and to be a humble instrument of my Great God, to announce that there is something beautiful and wonderful in store for them who were neglected by this present world! (Luke14:13-14)”

Bro. Eli on WordPress

The Bible is source of many scientifically proven knowledge of today. For instance, the Bible teaches that Honey is nutritious, but good only for adults and not babies. This simple pronouncement in the Bible that Soriano puts forward is quite an evidence already, if one is not blind nor a coward.

“Would anybody dare to refute this truth? To the enemies of the Bible, SPEAK THAT YOU MAY BE HEARD AND BE JUSTIFIED; OR BE FOUND TO BE FOOLS AND IGNORAMUSES,”

– Brother Eli Soriano 2007, written in “Sweet Evidence of Authenticity of the Bible”

There is such a person who reads the Bible in all its glory and preaches accordingly. And if any atheist claim to have read the Bible, and choose to refute its authenticity, I would say to him: It is in utmost sympathy I tell you that I believe (and know) your understanding of the Bible is misled.

“It is possible that a cause can cause an effect but it is impossible that the cause is nothingness for in nothingness, the ability to think cannot develop or exist.

“It is possible for the seen to cause another seen to exist, but penultimately, the seen is caused by an unseen, a being of higher level than the one caused.

“It is possible that atheists may fool people with their so-called masterpiece knowledge but it is impossible for such knowledge to take the place of truth.”

– Brother Eli Soriano 2014, written in “Possibilities and Impossibilities: God is in Control”

Below, a testimony from one of the listeners of The Old Path’s Bible Expositions.

Claims of Neutrality and Equality

Maybe Eichenwald’s purpose in writing his article is not mal intended. Maybe, like the many seekers of the truth about God, Eichenwald isn’t trying to  escape from the many requirements of holy living (be it there be a God in his life), but is just one of those people who are fed up of listening to pastors and preachers who hardly even read, let alone investigate the Bible to know that what they are saying are exactly contrary to what the God of the Bible teaches.

I too cannot refute that there are those atheist who claim to fight for what they think is humane, what they think is what humanity deserves. In the first week of January, I came across a controversial article from the Huffington Post: “Jewish Atheist’s Controversial T-Shirt: “I Met God, She’s Black”“. There is pretty much nothing I can say except that most people’s perception of God, even if they claim Him to be a make-belief god, are misled if they think that believing in God is being a sexist, or racist.

As far as I have learned, the God of the Bible is neither sexist nor racist.

It is not God’s intention in creating the woman to be the leader or someone dominating the male above her but a helpmate, and to satisfy the desires of the man He created.

PSALMS 145:16

Thou openest thine hand, and satisfiest the desire of every living thing.

In creating the woman, God wants to satisfy the desire of a man and symbiotically the woman also. See how wise the Creator is?

THE ROMANS 16:27

To God only wise, be glory through Jesus Christ forever. Amen.

But to maintain order and prevent strife that may lead to evil, God placed the woman under the authority of the man.

I TIMOTHY 2:11-14

11 Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection.

12 But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.

13 For Adam was first formed, then Eve.

14 And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.

Placing the woman under the authority of the man is not being misogynistic, but being compassionate, loving, and with utmost concern for the woman. God knows the physical constitution of the woman He created. He knows that the woman is inferior in strength.
– Mr. Controversy at controversyextraordinary.com

And God is neither male nor female. God is genderless, for He is Spirit!

http://angdatingdaan.org/pangkalahatang-tanong/ang-dios-ba-ay-may-kasarian-o-sex/

– Brother Eli Soriano answers the question: “Does God have gender or sex?”

A Distinction

There is, in fact, many different interpretations of the Bible, as there is many theories to the things that exist which the human-discovered science of today cannot comprehend in facts. But not all interpretation is correct. Not all of the preachers are the same.

As with the case of the Bible, how sure are you, Eichenwald, that there is absolute error with the inter translations from ‘koine’ to today’s various languages? You focus so much on detesting the Bible, you spend so little time looking for the one ‘preacher’ who actually reads and understands the Bible.

There he is on TV broadcasting the Word of God in all purity, even to the point of creating enemies. A man who disposes of inauthentic early ‘christian beliefs’ (such as trinity and 6,000 years of creation and misleading verses in the Bible), to the point of creating for himself enemies from other religious denominations that choose to, as you put it, “sugarcoat” the words in the Bible.

Since you had written in very great detail how the Bible could be false, placing evidences out of the mouth of several pastors and preachers who are contrary even to each other, this blog entry seems to say very little compared to your article. But I am not the one you should be asking, I am merely stating an excerpt of opinion.

One may think Science and Religion are contrary to each other, but the human race, in all its so-called glory which is the science and technological breakthroughs discovered, have not reached the peak of Scientific Understanding. Therefore, to conclude that God doesn’t exist is futile. But to conclude there are many misleading interpreters of the Bible is more befitting. There is a distinction!

True, this world is filled with fools who claim to have read the Bible and preach it incorrectly, but not all. And if you are ready to investigate, unbiased by the influence of atheistic ideations (that claim to build a stronger, wiser human race, but does the opposite), you will realize there is a God, by listening to Soriano.

Strong at 34: The “Ang Dating Daan” Anniversary 2014

“The truth of the Bible is not dependent on any book on earth.”

– Bro. Eliseo F. SorianoWorldwide Bible Expo: Oct 30, 2014

Oct. 30, 2014 – Even under the scorching heat, people had already started to amass at all entrances at the Smart Araneta as early as 2:30pm. What was the fuss all about? This day specifically marks the 34th anniversary of the longest running religious program on Philippine TV, Ang Dating Daan. In celebration, a Worldwide Bible Exposition was to be held at the Big Dome.

To-date, the Bible Exposition has become a gathering where people all across the globe can ask questions regarding Christian faith, answered straight from the Bible by none other than Bro. Eli Soriano, presiding minister of Members Church of God International. Bible Expositions have since made up the show “Itanong Mo Kay Soriano, Biblia ang Sasagot” (“Ask Soriano, the Bible Will Answer”) which is one of the first segments produced by the Ang Dating Daan program.

Humble Beginnings

The first ever airing of Ang Dating Daan on television was in 1983 (apart from the radio broadcast which started in 1980), with a three-person production staff. Despite the lack of personnel, financial constraints and other setbacks, there was no stopping the program from airing on Philippine Television.

Starting with an initial air time of 30 mins, the program slowly developed, and in years to come, the program would have faced many more obstacles including media critics, religious enemies, and conspirators.

In 2005, the religious host, Bro. Eli Soriano left the country, during which time one could hardly realize that this would be the start of expansion of the program and its works toward other countries, slowly infiltrating the Global Arena.

Shooting for Audio Video Presentation

For the anniversary special, it had been a collaborative effort from MCGI members in selected parts of Luzon including Laguna, Cavite, and Metro Manila.

And since Ang Dating Daan had long focused on and continue to shape a nation zealous of good works, hand-in-hand with the celebration had been continuous medical missions, clean-up drives and other public services.

Worldwide Bible Exposition at Araneta Coliseum

The event began with a few intermission numbers. ASOP interpreters presented most defining Songs of Praise to God. Songs such us “Ikaw,” and “May Awa ang Dios” were one of the highlight performances.

But none was of astounding brilliance as the view of the Ang Dating Daan Chorale, together with MCGI Music Ministry Choir in the background.

The stadium was already jam-packed as early as 3:30pm, but there were thousands more guests who were no longer able to enter. Despite that, there were Ang Dating Daan coordinating centers/ local chapters (live-viewing centers) which were open to accommodate them.

ADDfb - packed

As with every Bible Exposition, many were given the chance to ask their questions and hear Bro. Eli answer straight from the Bible.

“Naniniwala akong hindi nakadepende ang pag dami [ng miyembro ng isang samahan] sa debate, kundi yung aral ng Dios ang nakapagtuturo…”

– Bro. Eliseo F. SorianoWorldwide Bible Expo: Oct 30, 2014

Bro. Eli had earlier on taken the opportunity to thank their sponsors with which the broadcasts were able to continue despite difficult times, apart from making known his gratefulness for all those who were able to grace the occasion. Bro. Eli was proud to mention that, especially in Brazil, Filipinos were not seen as liabilities.

Bro. Eli was not meek to point out his unrest regarding the rise in number of Atheists—people who do not believe in God, pointing out that there is nothing wrong with believing in God. From there, he reminisced the history of how he and his program had kept up with enemies trying to halt the propagation of their cause.

“Ang tao ay may instinct ng pagiging maka-Dios. Naco-corrupt lang ito ng demonyo.”

– Bro. Eliseo F. SorianoWorldwide Bible Expo: Oct 30, 2014

In addition to the success of the event, the featured hashtag #Happy34YearsADD had made it to the top of Philippine trends on Twitter.

ESfb - trendADD34

And even for me, it was simply a wonderful experience to have taken part in this celebration. For to merely listen to this man, how he conforms to every question, and how he is able to answer queries according to the Bible, but most importantly how he is able to care for the flock in these grave times with the guidance of the holy Gospel–these things are not the work of man but of God.

Thanks be to God.

A Song of Praise: Season 3 Grand Finals – Review

image

Hosted by Toni Rose Gayda and Richard Reynoso, A Song of Praise Music Festival has been and still is the only Gospel Music TV Program in the Philippines, aired by no other than the leading station for Public Service, UNTV.

Personally, this is my very first time attending such a grand event. The “A Song Of Praise Music Festival Grand Finals Season 3 was held at the Smart-Araneta in Cubao, on September 23, 2014. For such a program to have lasted for 3 seasons, going on four, in fact, it proves that Praising God is never unwelcome in the hearts of people (at least, for Filipinos). And if you haven’t watched the program or listened to any of the song entries, I can definitely say you’re missing out!

What is it about Songs of Praises to God? It is just such a wonderful thing to listen to all the songs at the ASOP Grand Finals –there was this uplifting feel to it. It renews you within, and, as Daniel Razon, CEO & Chairman of BMPI mentioned in his speech after the performances, “Kung mayron man higit na dapat alayan ng ating tinig, ng ating talento walang iba kundi yung pinanggalingan nito. [If there is someone to whom we must offer our voices, our talents the most, it is none other than the One from which it all came from.]”

I spoke to one member of the audience, and she told me;

“Mas naappreciate ko yung ASOP ngayon dahil hindi naman nawala yung main purpose ng project na yun, na mahikayat pa ng mga taong gagawa ng Songs of Praises. Kahit artista, napasali natin gaya ni Cesar Montano, diba?… Kaya tama sabi ni Ingkong na yung music nakakaimpluwensya sa kaluluwa at puso ng tao. [I appreciate this ASOP because the main purpose of the project, which is to encourage more people to write Songs of Praises, was not lost. We were even able to invite actors like Cesar Montano, right?… Which is why when Ingkong (Bro. Eli) said Music influences the soul and heart of man, it is true.]” – Claire

image

I enjoyed listening to the Lyrics of the Songs “Tanging Gabay” by Arniel Villagonza, sung by Rachel Alejandro, which made me cry, and “God Will Win Our Fight” by Ricardo Sanchez, the lyrics of which were very enlighting – a basic principle of faith, if you have faith in God, don’t go about putting your trust into others as though there is possibility that God can’t do it.

I found Cesar Montano’s composition, “Pagpupuring Walang Hanggan” quite breath-taking to listen to, with all the blendings. He expressed how blessed he is, mentioning that when people asked him why he’d join he responded, “it’s a group of people worshipping God..” After which, he proceeded to invite people even from his industry to join.

“…the simple message of the song is Humility before God. Ang pagtanggap kung gaano ka kapalad, yung kung gaano ka kasama, God will forgive you, through Jesus Christ. Yan ang message,” said Montano in his AVP.

The actor-director and composer received praise from Winny Nepomuceno, member of the board of judges who commended his humility. Nepomuceno also congratulated UNTV for the success of the program saying, “Eto ang kailangan natin, hindi katulad ng nakikita sa ibang television na drama. (This is what we need, not like what we see in other television [channels] which are [just] drama.)

Baka lalu mawalan ako ng trabaho rito (Maybe I’ll be risking loosing my job all the more because of this),” he jokes but proceeds, “eh kasi ganun tlga. Unang una, bakit ako pupunta rito? (Because it’s like that really. Firstly, why would I come here?) Because i believe in your program…”

But the one song that received quite a favor among the live audience, to which, I believe, the strongest applause was heard during the performance was Louise Lyle Robles’ “May Awa ang Dios,” interpreted by Beverly Caimen.

It was no longer surprising that Robles was the Grand Winner, and Caimen was awarded Best Interpreter.

image

The winners were announced as follows:

Peoples’ Choice Awards, presented by Willy Nepomuceno to Jinnie Adilan for the Song, “Hanggat May Tinig Ako,” interpreted by Daryl Ong, who received a plaque and cheque for 50,000php.

Best Interpreter, presented by Wency Cornejo to Ms. Beverly Caimen for interpreting “May Awa ang Dios,” who also received a plaque and 50,000php.

Garnering an average of 88.72, the 3rd runner up was presented to Meldin Nabia for the song “Biyaya.” Nabia received 100,000php and trophy.

With an average of 89.27, 2nd runner-up was “Tanging Gabay” by Arniel Villagonza. Villagonza received 150,000php and also a trophy.

With 90.28 total average, at 1st runner-up was Marlon Nabia’s “Sa Bawat Araw.” Nabia received 250,000php and trophy.

And the Grand Winner, the Song of the Year, presented by the chairman of the board of judges, Danny Javier, and Daniel Razon, to Louise Lyle Robles for the song “May Awa ang Dios.”

The judges for the event received plaques of Appreciation, and all the ASOP composers received plaques of Recognition.

Overall, the event was fun, lively, and most importantly, Godly. As host Richard Reynoso put it, “Praising God: More fun in the Philippines.”

More testimonials:

“Okay lang. Mas maganda yung mga kanta nung nakaraan… Mas nagustuhan ko.” –Melvin, who also expressed how he enjoyed the re-cap performances for the song entries from season 2.

“Gustong gusto ko yung Bawat Araw.. Tsaka yung Kislap..” –Annie, when asked about the lyrics she enjoyed most.

“Best na awit sa ‘kin, ‘May Awa ang Dios.’ Para kasi makasurvive tayo sa magulong sanlibutan na to, kailangan talaga natin ng awa ng Dios. Yung awa kasi ng Dios, pagkakatanda ko, sabi ni Ingkong, malaking malaki yun. Kaya title palang ng nung awit panghahawakan mo na talaga. Lalo na yung lyrics at melody.” –Claire

Living Proof of Giles Grimm’s Words

“The king who sings with pages of sky fears too much the dawn that rises with lies.”

I can’t quite get it out of my head.

Giles Grimm, librarian and brother of Headmaster Milton Grimm, cursed with a babble spell, and now lives beneath Ever After High in the Vaults of Lost Tales.

While it is obvious there are secrets Milton Grimm fears to be revealed, it is still a mystery as to why. There are two possibilities: either Milton is evil or Milton is the alleged “king” in Giles’ riddle who ‘fears’ the repercussions of NOT following through with the ‘destinies’ written in the book.

What is “the dawn that rises with lies”? Unless my hearing fails me and I heard the riddle wrong, Giles clearly said “the dawn that rises with lies.” I believe the dawn is the future or destiny, and the sky refers to the book of legends. Since Headmaster Grimm talks about it, I assume he believes it and the “destinies” that come about of it. Analyzing this much, we therefore come to the conclusion that “living the legacy” according to Giles, even if you sign the book, it is but a ‘lie’–declaring Maddie’s translation precise, something is wrong with the book.

But another website interpreted the words of Giles’ riddle differently. The transcript typed in the following: “The King who sings with pages of sky fears too much, the dawn then rises with lies.” If the riddle was said this way, I’m interpreting it to mean that Grimm still does believe the book, but since there is something wrong with it, the destinies do not necessarily come true.

Though I am unsure as of now which of the transcript is correct, one thing is certain. There is truly something wrong with the book, and it seems we can “over-write” the destinies in this book by our very selves despite having signed it. A living proof does in fact currently go to Ever After High.

When Raven closed the book after claiming to write her own destiny, everyone was in shock. I assume Headmaster Grimm had never had this happened before (kind of weird that it never happened before since Rebels and Royals both go to the school and re-live destinies since 1812, so I am assuming that the school used to walk a different route, but I am leaving this idea to another blog). So, he got everyone to sign the book ever since it was meant to be signed.

And if my previous statement is correct, Red Riding Hood apparently went and “wrote-over” her own destiny by marrying the Big Bad Wolf, despite the fact that she (most probably) had signed the book. Therefore making Cerise, their daughter, living proof of the “overwriting.”

And since there is proof that someone can overwrite their destinies in the book of legends, the part of the riddle that says “the dawn that/then rises with lies” is true, and the “endings” are not always what they seem to be.

I’m sure some of you readers (who just happen to pass by this blog) must be contrary the idea or even my choice of words here. Please, I am all ears to what you have to say. Afterall, Maddie says Riddlish is not an exact language.
